About the Training Course
This program focuses on the relationship between Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, and Democracy, specifically examining how these themes intersect with youth and youth work.
AI is becoming a driving force in shaping today’s societies. While it brings many opportunities, it also raises concerns around human rights, privacy, freedom of speech, and democratic engagement.
This course aims to empower youth workers with the critical knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate these challenges and promote responsible, rights-based use of technology in their communities.
The training adopts a non-formal education approach, fostering active engagement through methods like group discussions, simulations, teamwork, and reflective practices.
Objectives of the Training Course
The primary goal is to enhance the capabilities of youth workers to operate within a rapidly evolving AI-driven landscape while adopting a human rights perspective. Specific objectives include:
Understanding the principles behind AI and how it impacts the daily lives of young people,
Developing a common framework for AI literacy and reflecting on the skills needed to guide young people,
Critically analyzing advancements in AI using a human rights lens,
Equipping participants with tools to connect AI literacy with youth access to rights,
Helping youth organizations respond effectively to the needs of young people concerning AI and engage in policymaking processes,
Mapping out existing frameworks and stakeholders in AI regulation across Europe, including those by the Council of Europe, and exploring how to integrate these into youth work.
Funding and Benefits
The Council of Europe provides financial support to ensure accessibility for all participants:
Travel and Visa Costs: Fully reimbursed, provided participants attend the complete course.
Accommodation and Meals: Provided at the European Youth Centre in Budapest.
Accessibility: The venue is disability-friendly, and arrangements can be made to accommodate specific needs if mentioned in the application.
Participation Fee: A 60-euro fee will be applied to all participants. For those covering their own travel costs upfront, the fee will be deducted from travel reimbursements.
