Applications are now open for a short-term European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering project taking place in Vukovar, Croatia. The project is looking for 6 motivated volunteers who would like to gain international volunteering experience while contributing to community development, youth engagement, and social inclusion activities. 🇭🇷
The volunteering programme will run from 1 July 2026 until 9 August 2026, lasting a total of 40 days. During this period, participants will become active members of the local project team and support a variety of educational, cultural, environmental, and social initiatives designed for children and young people in the Vukovar community.
Volunteers involved in the ESC project will take part in activities such as:
🎯 Organising thematic workshops and creative youth activities
🎭 Supporting cultural and social events in the local community
📚 Conducting local research projects and helping with exhibitions
📢 Providing information and support to young people
🌍 Hosting intercultural evenings and community-building activities
📱 Creating social media content, interviews, articles, videos, and online campaigns
🧹 Participating in clean-up actions, landscaping work, and volunteering camps
The project aims to strengthen social inclusion and empower the local community by involving international volunteers in meaningful activities focused on youth participation and community support. At the same time, the programme encourages the personal, educational, civic, and professional development of both volunteers and local participants.
🏠 Accommodation, Food and Financial Support
Volunteers will stay together in a shared house equipped with three bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Rooms will be shared by two participants. Bed linens, blankets, and towels will be provided, although volunteers may also bring their own items if preferred.
Participants will receive:
💶 A monthly food allowance of 250 EUR for groceries and meal preparation
💰 Pocket money provided through the ESC programme at a rate of 10 EUR per day, approximately 300–310 EUR per month
Volunteers will prepare their own meals, encouraging independent living and teamwork throughout the project.
📚 Training and Volunteer Support
During the activity, volunteers will attend at least one official training session, including on-arrival support activities.
Each participant will also receive guidance from a dedicated support team, including:
🤝 A mentor responsible for personal support and learning outcomes
📋 Activity supervisors coordinating volunteer tasks and daily responsibilities
📌 A project manager overseeing administration and overall project implementation
👥 Participant Profile
The hosting organisation is looking for volunteers who are creative, communicative, responsible, sociable, patient, and open to teamwork. Ideal participants should be motivated to work with children, young people, and local communities while supporting activities connected to inclusion and integration.
The ESC project is especially aimed at young people with fewer opportunities, including those facing:
• social challenges
• educational difficulties
• cultural differences
• geographical barriers
• economic obstacles
• health-related limitations
