The “All In” Seminar will bring together participants from different European countries to explore how youth work can contribute to protecting democratic values in a period marked by increasing polarisation and challenges to democracy.
The seminar will provide an international learning and networking environment where participants can exchange experiences, discover different approaches to youth work, and develop practical ideas that can later be applied in their local communities.
About the “All In” Seminar
Across Europe, democratic principles and values are facing increasing challenges, while public discussions are becoming more divided and polarised. In this changing environment, youth work has an important role in helping young people understand democratic values, participation and social responsibility.
The seminar will examine the position of youth work in these circumstances and encourage participants to reflect on how youth activities can remain socially relevant while supporting young people’s personal development.
Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss practical questions about working with young people in politically sensitive and polarised environments. The programme will encourage them to consider how youth work can contribute to strengthening democracy and what responsibilities may arise when democratic values are under pressure.
Main Objectives of the Seminar
The seminar is designed to give participants an opportunity to explore the relationship between democracy, youth participation and youth work.
During the programme, participants will:
- Examine the current situation of democracy and consider how democratic developments can affect young people and youth work.
- Explore the ethical and political aspects of youth work and its contribution to democratic values.
- Review existing projects, initiatives and youth work practices that have addressed democratic challenges.
- Discuss successful approaches as well as practices that have produced less effective results.
- Explore suitable methods for strengthening democratic values among young people in their local communities.
- Develop practical follow-up ideas that can be implemented within local youth work activities.
- Receive guidance from the seminar facilitators while developing their follow-up activities.
- Establish new international connections with participants working on similar topics.
- Build a supportive network that can continue to facilitate cooperation, experience sharing and peer support after the seminar.
Learning and Networking Opportunities
The seminar will combine learning, discussion, experience sharing and networking activities. Participants will be encouraged to contribute their own experiences while learning from approaches used in other European communities.
The international environment will allow participants to develop new professional contacts and explore opportunities for future cooperation around democracy, youth participation and community engagement.
The programme will also focus on turning the knowledge gained during the seminar into practical activities. Participants will therefore have the opportunity to develop ideas that can be adapted to their own local youth work environments.
Seminar Venue: Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The seminar will take place in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, a city with a complex historical and cultural background.
The programme will include on-site visits designed to demonstrate how local communities address challenging histories and work towards more democratic futures through youth work and the active participation of young people.
These visits will provide participants with an opportunity to connect the seminar’s discussions with real-life community experiences.
