The SOLARIC initiative is seeking 3 motivated volunteers to join activities in public schools located in Nansana, a suburb of Kampala.
The project focuses on education, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange, supporting children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
🎯 Main Responsibilities
Assisting with both formal and informal education in local schools.
Organizing arts, music, and sports sessions for children and youth.
Supporting vocational training programs such as digital literacy, carpentry, performing arts, and entrepreneurship.
Working alongside teachers, trainers, and community members to create meaningful learning opportunities.
The project is coordinated by IOA (Bulgaria), Uganda Pioneers Association (Uganda), and Cazalla Intercultural (Spain).
🏠 Accommodation, Food & Transport
Volunteers will stay in shared dormitories at UPA’s office in Nansana.
Facilities include bunk beds, a communal kitchen with water, gas, and electricity.
Meals are self-managed—volunteers can cook individually or together.
Affordable food is available in local markets and supermarkets.
Daily commute to project sites will be on foot or via public transport (taxis/matatus). For short distances, boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) may be used.
International travel to Uganda will be arranged by the sending organizations.
📚 Training & Preparation
Pre-departure training (online) provided by IOA and Cazalla Intercultural, covering expectations, cultural adaptation, and logistics.
On-site training coordinated by UPA, including:

- Workshops and observation practice on teaching, youth engagement, and cultural exchange.
- Practical sessions in vocational skills, arts, and environmental initiatives.
- Weekly reflection meetings to share experiences and plan activities.

👤 Volunteer Profile
We are looking for 3 volunteers aged 18–35 from eligible ESC countries.
Open to young people with fewer opportunities (support needs can be indicated).
Motivated individuals aligned with ESC values, eager to contribute to education, community development, and sustainability.
Commitment to the full duration of the mission.
Open-minded, adaptable, and willing to embrace cultural diversity.
No prior experience required, but skills in teaching, facilitation, youth work, or vocational training are an advantage.
English knowledge is helpful.
