Uganda Volunteering Opportunity – Education, Youth Empowerment & Sustainability
📍 This summer, spend 59 meaningful days in Uganda!
From mid-June to mid-August, we are seeking 10 motivated young volunteers to join impactful community-based initiatives in Kampala.
This program supports disadvantaged children and youth through education, vocational training, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange.
🌍 Key Activities:
✅ Providing educational support in local schools (both formal and informal settings)
✅ Organizing arts, music, and sports activities for children and youth
✅ Assisting vocational training programs in carpentry, ICT, and entrepreneurship
✅ Participating in environmental conservation and urban gardening projects
✅ Collaborating with teachers, trainers, and community members to foster meaningful learning experiences
This SOLARIC project is coordinated by IOA (Bulgaria), Uganda Pioneers Association (Uganda), and Cazalla Intercultural (Spain).
🏡 Accommodation, Meals & Transportation
✈️ Travel Costs: Covered based on EU distance calculations
🛂 Visa Support: Provided 💶 Pocket Money & Meal Allowance: Covered under project budget 🏡 Housing: Volunteers will share rented apartments within local communities (minimum 4 volunteers per flat). Apartments are fully furnished with water, gas, and electricity.
🍽 Meals: Volunteers will prepare meals individually or in shared cooking arrangements. Local markets and supermarkets offer affordable food options.
🚍 Daily Transport: Volunteers will commute via public transport (taxis/matatus). Shorter distances may be covered using boda bodas (motorcycle taxis). 🌍 Group Travel to Uganda will be coordinated and organized by us.
📚 Training & Orientation
📌 Pre-departure Training: 📅 Dates: June 2-3, 2025 (Online) 📌
On-Site Training: 🎯 Led by Uganda Pioneers Association (UPA), including:
✅ Introduction to local communities & project goals
✅ Workshops & observation sessions on teaching, youth engagement, and cultural exchange
✅ Practical training in vocational skills, arts, and environmental projects
✅ Weekly reflection sessions for experience sharing & activity planning
👥 Participant Profile – Who Can Apply?
📌 Age: 18-35 years old
📌 Residency: Must be from an EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey
🔹 Ideal candidates should: ✅ Be open to young people with fewer opportunities (applicants can indicate support needs)
✅ Share ESC values, with enthusiasm for education, community development, and sustainability
✅ Be available for the full 59-day volunteering period
✅ Show adaptability, an open mind, and eagerness to embrace cultural diversity
✅ No prior experience required—but teaching, youth work, facilitation, or vocational training skills are a plus!
✅ English proficiency is beneficial
