The STORM project is inviting 15 dedicated volunteers to take part in a 59-day mission in Tanzania, supporting communities within the Sadaani Natural Reserve. The team will assist the village of Tumbilini in building a nursery for 50 children who currently walk 6 kilometers daily through the bush to attend kindergarten.
Volunteers will also contribute to the SANA seed bank and conservation program, focusing on collecting, storing, and replanting tree species to help restore the ecosystem around Gongo village. This mission is designed for those who love nature, are open to a digital detox, and want to experience life alongside wildlife while engaging directly with local communities.
🏠 Living Arrangements
Accommodation at SANA camp in shared gender-based rooms with bunk beds, mosquito nets, and wardrobes.
Facilities include outdoor showers, washrooms, and a communal dining area. Rainwater is used for sanitation.
Meals are prepared daily by the SANA team using fresh local produce; bottled water is provided.
Transport from Dar es Salaam airport is arranged by bus, while daily travel to villages will be on foot or via shuttle.
📚 Training & Orientation
Pre-departure: Two online sessions (2 hours each) led by IOA and Mondo teams.
On-site: Orientation with SANA team covering Tanzanian culture, traditions, economy, language, and safety guidelines.
Construction: Guidance from local experts and village mentors.
Conservation: Training at the seed bank under agroforestry specialist Mr. Sefania Kyando.
👥 Who Can Apply
- Completion of Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training is required.
- Open to individuals with fewer opportunities; support will be provided.
- Must be motivated, adaptable, and available for the full mission duration.
- No prior experience necessary, though skills in childcare, conservation, or restoration are an advantage.
- Basic English knowledge is recommended.
