In this volunteering project, your primary responsibility will be to design, plan, organise, and lead both indoor and outdoor activities for local children, as well as sessions for teenagers within the “New Leaders Academy.”
You will also prepare the spaces where activities take place and arrange your working environment.
The workload is up to 40 hours per week, with a maximum of 8 hours per day. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to teach children your native language.
All activities will follow a non-formal education approach, focusing on fun, creativity, and teamwork. You will collaborate with a team of 12 ESC volunteers from different countries.
Keep in mind that extra time may be needed for planning, and the work can be demanding.
Weather conditions in Latvia may also pose challenges, as summers are often short, rainy, and colder compared to many other countries. The project will conclude with a final evaluation day.
🏡 Accommodation, Food and Transport
During their stay in Liepaja, volunteers will be accommodated in dormitories, with 3–4 people per room (same gender, same project).
They will receive pocket money, food allowance, hot lunches during activities, unlimited public transport tickets in Liepaja, mentor support, insurance, and optional Latvian language lessons.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to ESC programme limits.
🎓 Training and Activities
At the beginning of the project, volunteers must spend five days in an outdoor camp with basic facilities, preparing their own meals and experiencing survival in Latvia’s deep forests.
This on-arrival training is designed to build team spirit among volunteers and project leaders.
Throughout the project, participants will have opportunities to join various personal development trainings and engage in job shadowing in professions they choose.
