Rural Youth Europe (RYE), in partnership with the Council of Europe and the European Youth Centre Budapest (EYCB), warmly invites young people from rural communities across member states to take part in the 2026 Study Session: “From Scroll to Action – Media Literacy for Rural Youth Empowerment.”
This week-long program will gather 25 enthusiastic young participants to strengthen their media literacy skills, learn how to critically evaluate information, counter disinformation, and engage more confidently in democratic life at local, national, and European levels.
🎯 What Participants Will Do
Explore the challenges and opportunities of media literacy in rural areas, and examine how misinformation contributes to political disengagement and radicalisation risks.
Gain hands-on skills to identify trustworthy sources, detect media bias, and recognise disinformation strategies.
Develop stronger critical thinking and analytical abilities to assess information effectively.
Enhance civic participation and learn advocacy tools to support rural communities.
👥 Eligibility
Young people aged 18–30 (a limited number of places available for 30+ applicants)
Residents of a Council of Europe member state
Interested in media literacy, civic engagement, and rural development
Able to communicate confidently in English
Willing to follow the Code of Conduct and general rules
💰 Costs and Benefits
All accommodation, meals, and travel expenses are fully covered by the Council of Europe.
A €50 participation fee (collected by RYE) applies.
Participants must keep and submit all original tickets, receipts, and boarding passes.
