Erasmus Student Network (ESN) stands out as one of the largest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, founded in 1989 to support and advance student exchange programs. Operating in over 500 Higher Education Institutions across more than 40 countries, ESN continually evolves and expands, working at Local, National, and International levels and offering services to approximately 150,000 students within Higher Education.
ESN strives to foster a more mobile and adaptable educational environment by contributing to the development of student exchanges and providing an intercultural experience, extending its reach to students unable to partake in periods abroad (“internationalization at home”).

Values volunteering and active citizenship.
Homecoming Students:
ESN supports students returning from an exchange by assisting in the reintegration process in their home countries, maintaining connections with an international environment. Many local sections are established by former exchange students who, having positive experiences during their exchange, recognize the challenges faced in foreign environments.
Exchange Students:
While ESN’s broader mission encompasses all students, its primary focus lies on current exchange students who often encounter difficulties and may feel isolated in their new surroundings.
To address this, ESN provides assistance in academic, social, and practical integration. Local sections organize diverse events such as trips within the country, film nights, language projects, international food festivals, and, notably, parties. Additionally, many sections implement mentor systems to support international students primarily in academic and practical integration.
ESN also serves as an informational hub, offering guidance to future exchange students, encouraging them to seek international experiences and gain insights into different cultures.
