Each student team, with the support of academic and industry mentors, will investigate problems and present their results both orally and in writing at the end of the program.
Following the RIPS program, some student teams may choose to publish their results or present them at national conferences. IPAM provides extensive support and incentives to each undergraduate student, including:
Stipend
Travel allowance
On-campus housing and meals
Site visit with sponsors (subject to confirmation)
Limited partial support for future travel to select conferences
Eligibility for foreign students (studying in the US or abroad)
Eligibility for graduating seniors
Supporting the careers of women and minority mathematicians and scientists is a key component of IPAM’s mission, and we welcome their applications. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.
RIPS-LA will take place from June 23 to August 22, 2025.
Students will live in residence halls on the UCLA campus and work at IPAM, which will provide technical support and office space. Nine projects are expected, but sponsors and projects are not yet finalized. For more information, please see the FAQ page.
