This Erasmus+ Training Course in Balestrand, Norway, aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to promote global citizenship among young people through the creative and practical methodology of Street Campaigning.
Climate change, environmental degradation and unsustainable consumption are among the most serious challenges facing the world today. Young people have an important role to play in creating sustainable change, yet many may need additional motivation and practical tools to adopt and promote environmentally responsible behaviours.
The training provides participants with an opportunity to explore sustainability, responsible global citizenship and climate-related topics while developing practical skills that can be used to raise awareness among young people and local communities.
🌍 What Does Global Citizenship Mean?
A global citizen is someone who looks at the world from a broader perspective, understands how individual actions can have global consequences and takes responsibility for their impact.
This approach encourages individuals to reconsider their everyday choices and make positive changes that contribute to a more sustainable world. Sustainable living, responsible consumption and environmental awareness are therefore important elements of global citizenship.
🚶 What Is Street Campaigning?
Street Campaigning is an innovative approach that uses public spaces to communicate messages, raise awareness and encourage community engagement.
Unlike traditional indoor workshops, this methodology allows participants to interact directly with people in public spaces. It can be adapted to different subjects, locations and target groups, making it a flexible tool for youth and community activities.
Some of the main advantages of Street Campaigning include:
- Reaching a large number of people within a relatively short period,
- Connecting with people who may not be reached through traditional methods,
- Using a wide variety of activities and engagement techniques,
- Creating opportunities for creativity and innovative communication,
- Being adaptable to different public spaces,
- Developing a broad range of skills among campaigners,
- Attracting the attention of local communities,
- Creating an enjoyable and engaging experience for everyone involved.
