Project Description:
The “Service National de la Jeunesse (SNJ)” or National Youth Service, operating under the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, is instrumental in shaping legal policies, orchestrating educational initiatives for the youth, and facilitating their transition into active societal roles.
The SNJ also spearheads Luxembourg’s volunteer programs. This project places a strong emphasis on inclusivity.
By partnering with organizations that serve individuals with mental and physical disabilities, volunteers gain firsthand experience of daily operations within these institutions and are tasked with coordinating activities for the residents.
Additionally, the project serves as a gateway to understanding Luxembourg and embracing our collective European ethos through the medium of art. Participants are encouraged to make their mark in Luxembourg, showcasing the unity within our diversity.
Living Provisions:
Volunteers will stay in various youth hostels, sharing rooms. The location will rotate three times throughout the project, offering a comprehensive experience of Luxembourg.
Typically, three meals will be provided daily; on other days, a food stipend will be given. Luxembourg offers free public transportation.
Training Component:
Upon arrival, volunteers will undergo a three-day introductory training session (OAT) designed to equip them for the challenges ahead.
Social workers involved in the project’s organization will also participate in this training. Support will be readily available throughout the project’s duration.
Participant Criteria:
Participants should possess a fundamental understanding of English and be sufficiently independent to manage living on their own.
We seek candidates who are eager to dedicate their time, knowledge, and skills to the project. Key attributes include creativity, self-sufficiency, and basic English proficiency.
