What Is the LA28 Volunteer Program?

Reflecting the diversity of Los Angeles itself, the program welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and values a wide range of skills, experiences and perspectives.

LA28 Volunteer Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of several stages designed to identify volunteers who best reflect the collaborative spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Step 1: Online Application
Applicants must complete the official online application form.
The process typically takes around 30 minutes, and applicants are not required to finish it in a single session.
The closing date will be announced at least seven days in advance, and applications are evaluated independently of submission order. Applying earlier does not provide any competitive advantage.
Step 2: Volunteer Assessment
Candidates shortlisted after the initial review will receive an invitation to participate in the next assessment stage.
Applicants located in Los Angeles will attend an in-person assessment at the Volunteer Experience Center, where they will participate in collaborative activities designed to evaluate:
- Teamwork
- Communication
- Cooperation
- Problem-solving
- Alignment with Olympic and Paralympic values
Applicants living outside Los Angeles will be offered a virtual assessment alternative.
Step 3: Volunteer Offer and Acceptance
Successful candidates will receive an official volunteer offer through both email and the LA28 volunteer portal.
To secure their position, selected applicants must formally accept the offer via the online portal.
Final confirmation is subject to the successful completion of a background screening process.
Applicants who are not immediately assigned a role may be placed on a waiting list for future opportunities.
Step 4: Volunteer Training
Before beginning their assignments, every volunteer will complete a comprehensive training program designed to ensure confidence and preparedness.
Training will include:
- Role-specific instruction
- Venue-specific orientation
- Operational procedures
- Volunteer responsibilities
- Games protocols
Depending on the assigned role, training may be delivered online, in person, or through a combination of both formats.
Step 5: Games-Time Volunteering
Once volunteers complete their required training, confirm their shift schedules and collect their accreditation badges and official uniforms, they will officially join the LA28 Volunteer Crew.
Throughout the Games, volunteers will assist athletes, spectators, media representatives and event staff while helping create an inclusive, welcoming and unforgettable Olympic and Paralympic experience.
Application Updates and Selection Timeline
Application progress updates will be communicated throughout 2027 via the email address linked to each applicant’s LA28 account and through the official volunteer portal.
Given the expected global interest in the program, organizers have indicated that not every applicant will advance to the next stage or receive a volunteer assignment. Selection will be based on operational needs, eligibility requirements and assessment outcomes.
