This Team Volunteering initiative is conducted in partnership with the Caritas Centre in Sant’Agata di Militello (ME), which was established in late 2018 to assist local individuals facing economic hardships and various social challenges.
Volunteers will aid in delivering food to economically disadvantaged individuals, organizing tools, and arranging clothing at the Children’s Emporium. Additionally, they will participate in maintaining the social garden and upkeep of the space in collaboration with local Caritas volunteers and individuals with mild intellectual disabilities.
Throughout the two-week period, volunteers will also partake in social and recreational activities for local families. As members of the national Eurodesk, The Caritas Centre and Associazione InformaGiovani aim to empower Sicilian communities and provide young people with opportunities to engage locally and interact with international peers.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Volunteers will be housed in shared dormitory-style rooms, accommodating 4-5 individuals per room. Groceries will be provided by the host and prepared by volunteers.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Training will be provided upon arrival.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
Candidates should have an interest in supporting local communities and individuals in need, as well as a willingness to engage in manual work (such as gardening and warehouse tasks).
Sensitivity towards individuals with fewer opportunities and disabilities is essential. Only pre-selected candidates will be contacted.
