Project Overview:
We are looking for 12 participants aged 18 to 30 for an exciting project in Buccino, Salerno, Italy.
This initiative focuses on exploring permaculture, handicrafts, ethnographic research, and promoting the region through two of its most iconic winter events:
Carnival and the traditional St. Joseph bonfires. The aim is to establish lasting connections between the young participants and the local area, encouraging cultural exchange and best practices with the local youth forum and other organizations involved in organizing traditional events.
Activities will be coordinated by Mòvesi. A portion of the available spots will be reserved for individuals with fewer opportunities (e.g., geographical, economic, or cultural barriers) to ensure inclusivity. Please note that the travel days are February 27th and March 31st, with additional travel days for Green travel.
Accommodation, Food, and Transportation:
Participants will stay in the historic center of Buccino at “Casa Mòvesi,” which offers shared rooms and a fully equipped kitchen (including 3 stovetops, 2 ovens, 2 sinks, 2 refrigerators, and a dishwasher) for self-catered meals.
Due to the historical nature of the building, Wi-Fi connectivity may be limited in certain areas. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to ESC guidelines, with a slightly higher budget for Green travel as per the ESC guide.
Training During the Project:
Participants will be guided by Giuseppe Castellucci, an experienced trainer who is a videographer, Italian language teacher for foreigners, facilitator in linguistic, artistic, and literary fields, and organizer of outdoor educational activities. He is passionate about nature and living in harmony with it.
Participant Profile:
We seek motivated individuals aged 18-30 who are eager to learn and share knowledge about permaculture, crafts, local traditions, and the cultural heritage of the Buccino area.
Ideal candidates will have manual skills in handicrafts and gardening, as well as curiosity and the ability to build relationships with locals.
Skills in creating and sharing digital content (audio, video, photos) are a plus. Participants must be available for the entire duration of the project.
