Project Overview
This initiative is centered around hands-on tasks related to the development of an outdoor classroom designed for reading and social engagement at Agorateca, the Community Library of Altamura.
Since its inception in 2019 within a school setting, Agorateca has been a hub for cultural activities and community gatherings, operated by the Link association.
The “Knowledge Garden” construction is a segment of the “Cometa” initiative, aimed at addressing educational disparities. The building process will be supervised by seasoned architects and will engage the local populace in a collaborative design and build effort, prioritizing the use of salvaged materials.
Living Arrangements and Logistics
Volunteers will be accommodated in a spacious apartment near the heart of Altamura.
They will be allotted funds for meals and a daily allowance of 6 euros, which will be deposited directly into their bank accounts.
Accessible via airplane, train, or bus, Altamura is well-connected, and the Link association will assist volunteers in determining the most suitable travel plan according to their needs.
The European budget will cover all transportation costs. The Infopack contains further specifics.
Training Schedule
The project’s inaugural day will be allocated for an orientation to the program and a briefing on the practical aspects of the project.
Subsequently, the focus will shift to the active construction phase of the outdoor learning space. The second week is reserved for refining details, assessing the overall experience, and strategizing for future endeavors.
