Theme: Youth-Led Innovation and Digital Pathways – Unlocking Renewable Energy Through AI and Access
Young visionaries from across the globe with a passion for sustainability, clean energy, and digital innovation are invited to apply for the 8th edition of the IRENA Youth Forum.
Hosted in Abu Dhabi from 8 to 10 January 2026, this international event is organized and fully funded by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

IRENA stands as the premier global intergovernmental organization dedicated to accelerating the transition to renewable energy.
It serves as a collaborative platform for nations, offering expert insights into emerging technologies, policy development, financing models, and investment strategies.
The agency champions the responsible and widespread adoption of renewable sources—including solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, ocean energy, and bioenergy—to foster climate resilience, energy security, and inclusive economic growth.

🧭 Forum Overview
The IRENA Youth Forum is the agency’s flagship initiative focused on empowering young leaders, fostering intergenerational exchange, and advancing innovation in the renewable energy sector.
The 2026 edition will spotlight how youth are leveraging artificial intelligence, digital tools, and creative business models to expand access to clean energy worldwide.
Key goals of the forum include:
Elevating youth perspectives in global energy and climate discourse
Equipping participants with skills to design and scale impactful solutions
Exploring youth-led financing strategies for energy transition
Strengthening collaboration between youth, governments, industry, academia, and international organizations

Selected delegates will:

Co-author the Youth Forum Outcome Statement to be presented at the 17th IRENA Assembly

👤 Who Can Apply?
Open to individuals of all nationalities
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of the forum
Should be actively involved in renewable energy, sustainability, innovation, or related fields
Must be leading or contributing to projects, startups, research, or advocacy efforts that support energy transition
Should be motivated to collaborate and scale impact globally
💰 Financial Support
- No registration or participation fees
- Full sponsorship (including travel and accommodation) will be provided to up to 35 selected participants
📅 Key Dates
- Application Deadline: 30 September 2025 (midnight, Abu Dhabi time)
- Forum Dates: 8–10 January 2026
- 8–9 January: Youth Forum sessions, including high-level opening and interactive workshops
- 10 January: Closing segment held during the 16th IRENA Assembly at St. Regis Saadiyat Island
