Greenovation 5.1: A Unique Volunteering Opportunity at Hopeland

Greenovation 5.1 offers a transformative 5-week volunteering experience at Hopeland, a vibrant educational eco-community. Together with 14 other volunteers from diverse parts of Europe, you’ll embrace communal living and actively contribute to the space’s development and sustainability.

The program revolves around two key aspects: practical hands-on work and building connections.

Volunteers will engage in eco-building, gardening, landscaping, woodworking, and maintenance projects.

Daily communal tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and caring for animals will be shared among participants.

You’ll also connect with local organizations through collaborative activities, clean-up projects, and visits to initiatives like Liveloula.

Weekly rotations ensure you explore all aspects of the community, while those with specific interests can delve deeper into areas they feel passionate about. Moreover, participants have the freedom to propose and lead their own creative mini-projects.

This program isn’t just about volunteering; it’s a chance to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully within a diverse and inspiring community setting.

Accommodation, Meals, and Transport

Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in shared teepee tents accommodating four people each. These tents are furnished with pallet beds and small furniture for personal belongings. The estate includes two outdoor showers, two outdoor toilets, and one compost toilet.

Kitchen: A dedicated kitchen and a covered dining area are fully equipped for communal cooking and dining. Meals are prepared and enjoyed together throughout the week.

Transport: A van is available for transportation needs, coordinated with the team leader.

Who Can Apply?

This project offers 15 positions, ensuring a multicultural environment. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be aged between 18 and 30 years old (not older than 31 on the project’s start date).

Legally reside in an Erasmus+ program country

Be comfortable living in a rural setting with basic conditions.

Open to working collaboratively with people from diverse cultures, sharing spaces, responsibilities, and decision-making.

Show enthusiasm for practical tasks such as gardening, eco-building, cooking, and cleaning.

Display commitment, take initiative, and contribute to both their own growth and society’s betterment.

Priority is given to individuals who have faced personal challenges or adversity.

Media-savvy participants with skills in photography or filmmaking are encouraged to apply to help document the experience and support Hopeland’s digital efforts, including promotional activities.

Important Considerations

Before applying, please carefully evaluate whether this program suits you:

This is not a retreat or therapy center. If you feel overwhelmed or in need of professional support, it’s recommended to address those needs first.

Hopeland cannot provide resources for addiction management (alcohol or drugs).

Physical endurance is essential, as gardening, eco-building, and other manual activities require a certain level of fitness.

Personal responsibility is key—participants are expected to manage their time effectively, care for themselves, and contribute as active team members.

This program is about growth and shared effort, not a vacation. Be prepared for a meaningful journey through physical work and communal engagement.

We want everyone to have an enriching and rewarding experience, so carefully consider these points before joining.
