Immerse yourself for a month in Hopeland, a 7-acre haven dedicated to educational and sustainable living in the heart of southern Greece.
Join a group of 17 like-minded volunteers from across Europe to collaboratively shape your ideal eco-community.
Utilize your physical labor, intellectual prowess, and creative spark to contribute to the enhancement of this space and forge meaningful connections with Hopeland’s local populace.
The New E.R.A. initiative is built on three foundational pillars that support both Hopeland and its collaborative activities with the local community.
This project is centered on establishing a resilient, temporary eco-community formed by the collective efforts of the volunteer team.
The project’s three mainstays are: 1.Engage [Foster connections and contribute to the local community], 2.Root [Leave a personal imprint. Reflect. Develop skills and attitudes], 3. Action [Practical work. Execution].
Living Arrangements
Volunteers will be accommodated in a spacious camping zone known as the Village, outfitted with 5 large teepee tents designated for volunteer use.
Additionally, a guesthouse will be accessible, except during periods when Hopeland hosts other groups. Powered by solar panels, our electricity supply is finite; heavy usage or inclement weather may lead to power shortages.
High-energy appliances like hair dryers are not usable, and laundry must be washed by hand. A separate structure houses the kitchen, where we prioritize vegetarian cuisine.
Participant Criteria
We’re on the lookout for individuals who are passionate about hands-on tasks, proactive in initiating projects, and adept at crafting opportunities for both personal growth and societal benefit.
Prospective participants should be prepared for rural living under fundamental conditions and embrace the challenge of collaborating with a culturally diverse group to co-create a sustainable community.
It’s also recommended that applicants have a well-defined plan and vision for their involvement in the project and its subsequent impact.
