The purpose of this study session is to adequately equip participants to create positive narratives that ensure young refugees and migrants feel valued, accepted, and have a sense of belonging in their new homes.
Participants will be empowered to foster welcoming and inclusive environments free from discrimination, where diverse cultures can be shared and expressed freely, and where the contributions of migrants and refugees to society are recognized and celebrated.
Objectives
Participants will connect, learn, and share their experiences and knowledge with each other, feeling motivated and inspired to take action.
Participants will enhance their understanding and awareness of key narratives and stories about migrants within their contexts.
Participants will gain a deep understanding of the key human rights issues affecting refugees, migrants, and host communities.
Participants will develop the skills, knowledge, competencies, and confidence to work with young people to create impactful stories that promote rights-based approaches and positively shift the narrative about refugees and migrants.
Participants will create realistic and actionable proposals and plans for storytelling projects/initiatives/actions that will change the narrative towards refugees and migrants in their home contexts.
Participants will understand the role of the Council of Europe in supporting refugees and migrants, including key tools, knowledge approaches, and policies.
This Training Course is for 35 participants
Costs
Participation fee: All costs, including travel expenses, accommodation, and food, will be covered. The enrolment fee for study sessions is set at €50 per participant, which will be deducted from the travel expense refund.
Accommodation and food: Accommodation and three meals per day will be provided by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe at the EYCB.
