The new generation of youth, born in the 21st century, has been immersed in technology from an early age.
Digital youth work is now more crucial than ever, offering the potential to leverage digital media and new technologies to augment youth work practices.
As defined in various documents, digital youth work spans activities occurring in face-to-face, social, and group settings, as well as online environments – or a combination of these. It is pertinent to all youth work pedagogies and has the capacity to enrich diverse types of practices.
Throughout this training course, participants will delve into topics such as digital youth work, digital safety, STEM education, and the utilization of diverse tools like LEGO and 3D printing in their professional endeavors.
Designed for youth workers embarking on their careers, this course is tailored to those seeking to acquire fresh insights into the realm of digital youth work.
The training course will be executed through both online and offline modalities. Prior to the live training sessions, participants will engage in an e-learning course.
General Aim:
To equip youth workers with the methods and tools necessary for the development of the digital competencies of young people.
Objectives:
- Empower youth workers and other professionals in youth work to establish a strategy for digital youth work.
- Present methods, tools, and activities applicable to digital youth work.
Analyze how non-formal learning can be complemented with digital tools and STEM education.
- Explore the advantages and disadvantages of online learning.
- Familiarize participants with tools like Snapchat, TikTok, Miro, and other platforms used in youth work.
Experience and learn how to utilize various spaces (open-air, analog/digital) to create a supportive learning environment (e.g., using LEGO for STEM discussions, integrating 3D printing in youth work).
Support networking and facilitate connections among participants for future collaborations in the field of digital youth work.
