Young people interested in sustainability, creativity, community living, and hands-on volunteering now have the opportunity to join the “Art in Garden” ESC volunteering project in Italy. Hosted at La Città dell’Utopia, the project focuses on improving and transforming shared outdoor spaces through gardening, carpentry, artistic interventions, and community participation. 🌿🎨
The project combines environmental awareness, teamwork, and creative expression while encouraging volunteers to actively contribute to the development of welcoming and sustainable community spaces.
🌱 What Is the “Art in Garden” ESC Project About?
The volunteering project is designed around the care and enhancement of garden areas within the community space of La Città dell’Utopia. International volunteers will work together on practical outdoor activities aimed at improving green spaces through sustainable and artistic solutions.
Participants will help maintain gardens, build functional wooden furniture for outdoor use, and create artistic mosaics using recycled materials. The project promotes long-term environmental responsibility while also encouraging creativity and intercultural collaboration.
🎯 Main Goals of the Project
The “Art in Garden” ESC programme aims to:
🌿 Improve and regenerate outdoor green spaces through sustainable interventions
🎨 Encourage creativity through public art and mosaic-making activities
🤝 Promote collective responsibility and community care
🛠️ Develop practical skills related to gardening, carpentry, and artistic work
🌍 Strengthen intercultural exchange among international participants
♻️ Raise awareness about sustainability and environmental responsibility
👥 Support teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in community life
🏕️ Volunteer Camp Activities
The ESC volunteer camp will combine practical work with educational and reflective learning sessions. Volunteers are expected to participate in activities for approximately 6–7 hours per day.
Main practical activities include:
🌱 Gardening and green space maintenance
🧹 Cleaning and maintaining the vegetable garden
🎨 Creating mosaics with recycled and reused materials
🪵 Building outdoor wooden furniture
🏡 Supporting the daily activities and organization of La Città dell’Utopia
The project encourages volunteers to contribute not only through physical work but also through creativity, initiative, and teamwork.
📚 Educational and Study Sessions
Alongside practical activities, the project includes a study and learning component featuring workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions focused on:
🌍 Active citizenship and community participation
♻️ Sustainability and environmental awareness
🤝 Intercultural dialogue and group dynamics
🎭 The role of art within social and community spaces
Participants will also have the opportunity to share their own experiences, ideas, and cultural perspectives, contributing to a collaborative and collective learning environment.
👥 Participant Profile
The project is open to young people who:
• Are between 18 and 30 years old
• Enjoy teamwork and community life
• Have an interest in art, creativity, and hands-on activities
• Are motivated to participate in gardening, construction, and outdoor work
• Are interested in sustainability and shared community spaces
Eligible participants must reside in one of the European Solidarity Corps programme countries or associated partner countries, including:
🇪🇺 EU Programme Countries, 🇦🇱 Albania, 🇧🇦 Bosnia and Herzegovina, 🇽🇰 Kosovo, 🇲🇪 Montenegro, 🇷🇸 Serbia
