Applications are now open for an exciting European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Team Volunteering project taking place in Aruba.
Organized by Echo in collaboration with Tur Cos Ta Posibel, the project invites international volunteers to support the internationally recognized ArtWeek Aruba festival, one of the Caribbean’s most vibrant cultural and creative events. 🌍🎨
Held annually in San Nicolas — widely known as the Art Capital of the Caribbean — ArtWeek Aruba transforms the city into a large-scale open-air art space filled with murals, exhibitions, performances, installations, and community-based creative activities.
The 3-week volunteering programme offers participants the opportunity to gain practical experience in festival organization, cultural event management, teamwork, and intercultural exchange while living in a unique Caribbean environment.
🎭 What Will Volunteers Do During the Project?
Throughout the ESC volunteering experience, participants will actively support the preparation and implementation of the festival. Volunteers will work closely with artists, organizers, and local community members in various logistical and creative tasks.
Main volunteer activities include:
🎨 Assisting artists during mural and art installations
🛠️ Preparing walls and surfaces for painting projects
📦 Organising supplies, equipment, and festival materials
🚚 Supporting transportation and logistics on-site
🧹 Helping with cleaning, preparation, and setup activities
📱 Assisting with communication and promotional activities
🤝 Contributing to teamwork and community engagement during the festival
The project places strong emphasis on experiential learning and cultural exchange. Volunteers will develop new practical skills through direct involvement in real festival operations while also sharing ideas and experiences with people from different cultural backgrounds.
🏠 Accommodation, Food and Travel Support
Participants will stay in a shared volunteer house located in Pos Chiquito, close to the festival venues and only a few minutes from the beach. Rooms are shared between 2 and 5 volunteers.
The hosting organization provides:
✈️ Economy flight tickets with hand luggage included
🚐 Transportation related to the project
🍽️ Food allowance via bank card for groceries and household expenses
💶 Individual pocket money distributed after arrival
The accommodation includes a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, and towels are also provided for volunteers.
📚 Learning Experience and Training
During the activity, volunteers will receive guidance and basic training from the organizing team while participating directly in festival preparation and management processes.
The project encourages volunteers to learn through practice, teamwork, and interaction with local artists, organizers, and the Aruba community. Participants are also welcome to contribute their own creative ideas, skills, and initiatives throughout the programme.
👥 Participant Profile
The project is searching for energetic, proactive, and physically active volunteers who enjoy teamwork and practical tasks.
Ideal participants should feel comfortable with:
💪 Physical and hands-on work
🎨 Painting and mural preparation
🌞 Working outdoors in an active environment
