This volunteering initiative in Eboli, Salerno (Italy) invites 10 young participants aged 18–30 to take part in community-based activities that combine sustainability, creativity, and cultural heritage.
Volunteers will contribute to the renewal of shared green spaces and strengthen local community life through practical tasks.
These include establishing an educational herbal garden and planting aromatic and dye-producing plants in different areas of the city. The gardens will serve both as educational resources and as a basis for plant-derived products.
Participants will also collaborate in creating a digital map and installing crochet markers to connect the gardens.
In partnership with Eboli Città Sveva, volunteers will learn traditional techniques for transforming raw wool into handmade objects inspired by medieval crafts, supporting fundraising efforts.
Alongside these tasks, volunteers will join medieval-themed events, cultural excursions, nature-based activities, and non-formal learning sessions. Some places are reserved for young people with fewer opportunities.
Travel days: April 20th and May 20th.
🏡 Accommodation, Food and Transport
Volunteers will be hosted at “Casa sulle Monache” and “Casa Novella”, both located in the historic centre of Eboli.
One is a fully equipped apartment for five volunteers, while the other is a bed and breakfast offering private rooms, shared common areas, and a garden.
Meals will be partly communal and partly self-managed, with food provided. Shops, supermarkets, and the train station (with direct links to Salerno and Naples) are within walking distance.
Nearby airports include Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Naples. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to ESC guidelines, with additional support available for eco-friendly travel options.
🎓 Training and Learning
Volunteers will receive non-formal training led by Antonella Dell’Orto (biologist and environmental educator) and Stephanie Dupont (environmental educator and wool craft specialist).
Training will follow a learning-by-doing approach, enabling participants to gain practical skills in sustainability, craftsmanship, and teamwork.
With their experience in both local and international projects, Antonella and Stephanie will guide volunteers in planning activities, collaborating effectively, and engaging creatively with the community in an inclusive way.
