Sem&Vol, the regional branch of Solidarités Jeunesses in Dordogne, France, was established in 2013. Since then, it has hosted more than 70 international workcamps and numerous projects across villages in the region.
Its core objectives are:
Designing new activities that connect with local communities through intercultural exchanges,
Launching short-term initiatives (workcamps, trainings, group hosting) to provide local youth with international experiences close to home,
Encouraging volunteering among young people and raising awareness about civic engagement, international mobility, and active participation.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Contributing to daily workcamps (basic masonry, carpentry, painting, environmental tasks),
Organizing intercultural events and local activities,
Supporting the daily life and routines in the volunteer house,
Building partnerships between Sem&Vol and local organizations,
Promoting Sem&Vol and the values of volunteering.
🏡 Accommodation, Food & Transport
Sem&Vol is based in Cause-de-Clérans, a small rural village without public transport. Volunteers stay in a two-story house with a large garden. Up to six volunteers share two bedrooms.
The house includes a bathroom with shower, two toilets, and a fully equipped kitchen. On the first floor, there is a spacious living room with a terrace where meals and leisure time are shared. The house also provides a dedicated workspace for volunteers and an office for staff.
🎓 Training Opportunities
During the project, volunteers will:
Develop skills in intercultural communication, group facilitation, manual work (masonry, carpentry), collective living, and organization,
Attend weekly French language lessons,
Participate in facilitation training,
Learn about Solidarités Jeunesses, a movement with more than 1,200 members.
👥 Participant Profile
The project welcomes anyone aged 18–30 from EU or ESC partner countries. A driving license (manual cars) is recommended for greater independence, as there is no public transport in the area.
We are looking for motivated individuals eager to join this volunteering experience and open to discovering new cultures. Above all, motivation matters most! If you enjoy manual work, intercultural facilitation, nature, and collective living—or if you are curious to explore these areas—this project is for you.
