Hosted and funded by The Scout Association, this programme offers free accommodation, weekly financial support, and a wide range of personal and professional development opportunities.
🌿 What Awaits You
With over 100 years of experience in youth development, Scout Adventures is seeking passionate and motivated volunteers to join its 2026 team. Whether you’re based in the UK or abroad, you can apply for one of two exciting tracks:
Residential Volunteer Programme – open to both UK and international applicants
This programme blends outdoor adventure with meaningful impact. Through activities like abseiling, canoeing, and zip-lining, you’ll help young people build confidence and essential life skills, while also developing your own leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities.
🧭 Residential Volunteer Programme
Available to applicants from the UK and beyond, this track offers two duration options: 6 months or 10 months.
Volunteers will collaborate with peers from across the globe, lead youth-focused activities, gain new skills, and immerse themselves in a vibrant intercultural environment.
✅ Who Can Apply?
Anyone aged 18 or older
Individuals with a positive attitude, high energy, and a willingness to work outdoors in all weather
Basic English communication skills
Availability for approximately 40 hours per week (spread across 5 days, including evenings and weekends)
No formal education or prior work experience required
💰 What’s Included
On-site shared accommodation with fellow volunteers (meals and uniform provided)
Weekly stipend:
£45 for Residential Volunteers
£35 for UK Trainee Instructors
Reimbursement for essential expenses
Extensive hands-on experience working with youth groups
Opportunities to connect with volunteers from over 30 countries
Certified training in first aid, safeguarding, customer service, and activity instruction
🛂 Visa Information (for non-UK applicants)
Tier 5 Charity Worker Visa: Approx. £319
Immigration Health Surcharge (for placements over 6 months): Approx. £1035
TB Test Certificate: Required for some countries; costs vary
📄 Application Materials
- Confirmation of membership from your national Scout/Guide organization (if applicable)
- A reference letter from your school, university, or employer
- A recent photo
- A short video (around 2 minutes) introducing yourself
