🌿 Volunteer in Finland – Community Building at Piispala Youth Centre
This three-week volunteering initiative brings together 10–15 young people from various countries to contribute to a community-driven project in the serene countryside of Finland.
Hosted by Piispala Youth Centre, the project focuses on enhancing the centre’s atmosphere through creative tasks such as painting, decorating, and minor renovations.
Volunteers will also organize inclusive events for local residents to foster connection and solidarity.
One of the key activities includes painting a guest accommodation space used by visitors.
Throughout the experience, participants will strengthen their teamwork abilities, gain practical know-how, and broaden their cultural horizons by connecting with peers from different backgrounds.
Volunteers will be active five days a week, working from 9:00 to 16:00 (7 hours daily). Some evening or weekend involvement may be required depending on the schedule.
🏠 Accommodation, Meals & Travel
Volunteers will stay on-site at Piispala Youth Centre in shared rooms (2–3 people per room). Four meals a day will be provided by the centre’s kitchen and served either in the dining area or accommodation.
A charter bus will transport all volunteers from Jyväskylä Travel Centre on November 10. Participants must arrive in Jyväskylä by 20:00 that day.
Those unable to catch the bus will need to arrange their own travel to Piispala, as there is no public transport available to the centre.
🎓 Orientation & Learning
During the first week, volunteers will take part in an introductory training designed to build group cohesion and clarify the project’s goals.
They’ll learn about the role of youth centres in Finland, explore Piispala’s facilities, and meet the team.
The training will also outline the schedule, expectations, and responsibilities for the duration of the project.
