The aim of the project is to preserve and restore the old roads and paths of the “Vall de Siarb” while raising awareness about the significance of conserving this heritage.
Participants will learn about the historical uses and traditions associated with these paths, gaining insight into the rural way of life.
Additionally, the project seeks to promote the idea of transforming the “Vall de Siarb” into a future “road museum” and an interactive living museum open to public participation.
Through the preservation, recovery, and restoration of these paths, the museum will serve as a social and cultural hub, showcasing the history of the Pyrenees region.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD, AND TRANSPORT
Accommodation will be provided at a site known as “Llavaners,” a campsite situated at an altitude of 1000m near a small river, offering a secluded and natural setting.
Volunteers should be prepared for a rustic experience, as they will be camping in tents at the campsite.
Basic facilities include two dry toilets nearby, with no showers available on-site (but bathing in the river is possible).
Volunteers will be responsible for cooking their meals, and there will be no Wi-Fi or electricity at the campsite (charging phones will not be possible). The village of Llagunes is approximately a 2-hour walk away, with Sort located 5 km from the campsite.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
The main activity involves constructing a road museum, with support and collaboration from the Ecomuseum of “Valls d’Àneu” and the participation of international volunteers.
Professional guidance will be provided to volunteers by experts in the field, supplemented by additional support from local volunteers who will share their knowledge and accompany the international volunteers throughout their experience.
