Portugal , Braga : 25 Days Volunteering Project

Overview:

Since its establishment in 2005, the Youth Department of the Portuguese Red Cross in Braga has been dedicated to empowering young people by fostering self-confidence, cooperation, and proactive behavior.

 

Our target groups—children, adolescents, and young adults—participate as volunteers, beneficiaries, or leaders of positive change.

 

Through peer-to-peer and non-formal education, we emphasize Human Rights across six key areas:

Health Promotion, Social Inclusion, Development Education, Active Citizenship, Environmental Education, and Humanitarian Action.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

 

Support Ponto Vermelho Charity Shop: Organize donations, assist customers, and help families in need.

Engage with Geração Tecla: Promote social inclusion for Roma children, youth, and families in Santa Tecla.

Assist with International Projects: Write and execute Erasmus+ applications and promote ESC initiatives.

 

Join the Communications Team: Create content for JCV Braga’s social media.

Participate in the Summer Project: Promote health and safety for children and youth.

 

Participant Profile:

 

We seek dynamic and committed individuals who are eager to contribute to meaningful social projects while developing their skills and cultural understanding.

Ideal Candidate:

Aged 18–30.

Motivated to work in diverse social settings, including vulnerable communities and youth initiatives.

 

Open to learning and applying non-formal education methodologies.

Interested in promoting inclusion, cooperation, and human rights.

Skills and Qualities:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proactive, adaptable, and willing to take initiative.

Comfortable working both independently and in teams.

Creativity and a positive attitude towards new challenges.

No prior experience required—enthusiasm and a passion for helping others are key.

Fluency in English is an asset, and knowledge of Portuguese or other languages is a plus.
