Project Description
This project aims to immerse participants fully in the traditions, customs, flavors, and celebrations of our Calabrian City Siderno.
Passed down through generations, these cultural elements provide a unique experience.
Our goal is to make a positive impact on the community while promoting European citizenship—an unfamiliar concept for many young people.
Volunteers will contribute their skills and perspectives by engaging in sustainable activities that address community needs.
Additionally, they’ll enjoy traditional folk music, dance workshops, tours of charming villages, and hands-on cooking classes featuring local recipes.
This cultural exchange aims to break down stereotypes, foster open dialogue, and strengthen the sense of European unity.
Accommodation, Food, and Transport Arrangements
To ensure privacy and comfort, each volunteer will be provided with a shared apartment by the YMCA. The apartment includes shared rooms and bathrooms, heating, electricity, water, Wi-Fi, a kitchen, and a shared living room.
Conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from our main offices, the apartment is also close to bars, shops, gyms, restaurants, and pharmacies. You can find the apartment location here.
Training During the Activity YMCA Siderno will offer a brief introductory training on navigating the city safely.
Participant Profile
We welcome approximately 15 young volunteers aged 18 to 29 from all over Europe.
Regardless of culture, minority status, ethnicity, race, or religion, everyone is encouraged to participate. We also extend our welcome to those facing rejection, discrimination, economic challenges, or fewer opportunities.
