For a period of two months, participants will engage in a rotating schedule of work, focusing on theatrical and circus arts to aid children and young adults in acquiring these skills.
This includes not only collaborative performances with the youth but also the creation of an original theater circus act.
The theme of the performance will be a collective decision, reflecting current European and global events. The artistic approach will blend elements of “Physical Theater,” “Contemporary Circus,” and “Dynamic Artistic Expression.”
The program is enriched with mindful movement practices such as Feldenkrais, yoga, and resonant impulse learning, fostering an environment akin to a communal movement workshop.
Activity Schedule Overview:
1-8 July: Assistance with an international youth initiative (Dynamic Artistic Expression) and a week-long introductory training.
22 July – 2 August: Support for three separate 5-day circus and movement workshops for local children, including a training journey featuring street theater shows.
12-23 August: Support for two 5-day theater workshops for local children.
26 August: Culmination with a final performance.
Living Arrangements, Meals, and Transportation:
Accommodation: Initially, participants will reside at a local campsite where the youth project is based. Subsequently, shared apartments in Mainz or Wiesbaden will be provided. Room sharing, occasionally including a double bed, with a fellow volunteer of the same gender is to be expected.
Meals: All meals are covered during the youth project. The children’s workshops include lunch. On days without provided meals, participants will receive 13 EUR, and 8 EUR on days with lunch provided.
Transport: A public transportation pass will be supplied, excluding long-distance train travel.
Pocket Money: Participants will receive a daily allowance of 7 EUR.
Training During the Project: Training sessions are scheduled for the second and sixth weeks to prepare participants for their work with local children and the final performance.
Ideal Participant Profile:
We seek volunteers who are deeply committed to honing their artistic abilities and working with children and youth in a team setting.
The program’s timeline is tightly structured around specific project dates, requiring full availability. Volunteers should be comfortable with outdoor living conditions, including tent accommodation and shared sleeping arrangements.
