Do you have some experience working with kids? Are you creative, ready to face challenges, and not afraid to get hands-on? Then this project is for you! At EJBM, you will support the setup, dismantling, and daily running of our Children’s City.
For two weeks, our garden transforms into Ottopia, a city entirely managed by children. The only adults present are supervisors who guide and assist the kids in bringing their ideas to life. Around 400 children aged 8–14 from France, Poland, and the local community take part.
They choose professions, earn their own currency, pay taxes, and make collective decisions through elections. This playful environment fosters an understanding of democracy, independence, and social skills.
As a volunteer, you’ll witness firsthand how a city functions when run entirely by children. Please note: all selected volunteers must attend a mandatory online training before arrival.
Accommodation, Meals & Travel
Volunteers will stay in shared rooms (up to four people per room, towels and sheets provided).
As our facility hosts external groups year-round, living arrangements may vary.
Accommodation and meals are fully covered.
Three meals per day will be prepared by our kitchen staff. On free days, a food allowance will be provided.
Volunteers receive 7 € pocket money per day.
Travel expenses are reimbursed according to Erasmus+ distance rates.
Training & Support
Upon arrival, you will receive detailed information about the project and your role. Guidance will be provided by pedagogical staff and long-term volunteers.
Team-building activities will prepare you for working with the children. Throughout the project, the EJBM team will explain tasks, clarify responsibilities, and be available for any questions. Volunteers are expected to work independently while supporting each other in carrying out assigned duties.
