Train of Hope Dortmund is a charitable association located in Dortmund, Germany, committed to supporting refugees and migrants through inclusive social, educational, and cultural initiatives.
Our mission is guided by the principles of solidarity and equal opportunity, ensuring that every individual—regardless of background—has access to community life and personal development.
Volunteers joining our team will gain hands-on experience in a multicultural environment, build intercultural communication skills, and deepen their understanding of migration and integration processes in Germany.
The project also encourages creativity and initiative, offering space for volunteers to design and carry out their own small-scale projects within the organization.
Living Conditions and Support
Volunteers will reside in a shared apartment just a short 7-minute walk from our center. Each person will have a private bedroom, and no more than three volunteers will share the flat.
The apartment is fully furnished and well-connected to public transportation. A monthly stipend of €420 will be provided, covering both food expenses and personal spending.
Additionally, volunteers will receive a Deutschland Ticket for unlimited travel on local and regional transit networks.
Learning Opportunities
Volunteers are encouraged to take initiative and bring their own ideas to life through mini-projects, with full support from our team.
They will also be invited to participate in all activities hosted by Train of Hope Dortmund, including language classes, digital skills workshops, and other community events designed to foster learning, inclusion, and personal growth.
Ideal Volunteer Profile
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals aged 18 to 30 who are open-minded, respectful, and passionate about working in diverse cultural settings.
A solid command of English is required, and knowledge of German is a strong asset, as it is the primary language used in daily operations.
Volunteers should be ready to contribute to a variety of tasks—from assisting with office duties and supporting workshops to creating social media content and engaging in community programs like language or computer classes.
While prior experience is welcome, it’s not essential. What matters most is empathy, adaptability, and a genuine desire to promote inclusion and solidarity.
