The UNESCO Internship Programme offers students and recent graduates the chance to gain valuable experience in an international and multicultural environment.
Based primarily at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, as well as other locations, the programme allows participants to learn directly about UNESCO’s mission, projects, and working processes.
Internships last between one and six months, during which interns acquire professional experience in their chosen field while developing new skills.
Opportunities are available across a wide range of sectors, including education, culture, communication, human resources, social and human sciences, natural sciences, digital solutions, public engagement, and the Office of the Director-General.
This diversity enables participants to strengthen both technical expertise and intercultural competencies while working within a United Nations specialized agency.
🎓 Benefits
Although the internship is unpaid, it provides significant advantages.
Interns receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals, improve their communication and teamwork abilities, and gain exposure to the daily operations of UNESCO.
Additionally, interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month, making the programme not only a learning opportunity but also a chance to experience life in Europe.
📝 Application Process
Applicants must submit their applications online via the official UNESCO portal.
Candidates are required to create an account, select their preferred internship area, and upload the necessary documents, including an ID, medical certificate, proof of enrolment, or diploma (for recent graduates).
The deadline for applications is 30 June 2026.
