ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Join us in preserving and enriching the historical and cultural heritage of Nomeny! For six years running, the residents of Nomeny have been welcoming volunteers every summer to contribute to various restoration projects.
Past initiatives have included work on the ruins of Nomeny Castle to transform it into a vibrant community space. Volunteers have also participated in the maintenance of the doors and windows of the Church of Saint-Etienne de Nomeny, a designated Historical Monument. Over the last two years, efforts have focused on restoring an ancient wall adjacent to the castle.
This year’s objective is to complete these restoration projects and develop methods to showcase and interpret the town’s heritage! Guided by a professional heritage mason, this site offers an opportunity to learn traditional masonry techniques.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD, AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Accommodation will be provided in tents, so don’t forget your sleeping bags and mattresses! The town hall will supply toilets, showers, and a kitchen located near the campsite.
Each volunteer will contribute to daily tasks such as shopping, cooking, and cleaning, fostering autonomy and collective responsibility. The animation team will coordinate these activities to ensure smooth operation.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
No prior technical skills are required to participate in this project—everyone is welcome!
In addition to restoration work, volunteers will have the chance to contribute to the promotion of Nomeny’s old castle through artistic creations, explanatory panels, and the use of digital technology. A group of local youth will be available to assist you in these endeavors.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
