Description
The Diocesan Charity of České Budějovice (DCHCB) provides support, coordination, and methodological assistance to 13 local charities.
The DCHCB Centre delivers its own social services (including the Volunteer Centre) and participates in various projects within the Diocese of České Budějovice and internationally.
Supported by the European Solidarity Corps, this project allows us to host international volunteers who can engage in four distinct activities.
These activities focus on: 1) supporting elderly people and those with disabilities, 2) assisting homeless individuals, 3) working with children and youth through the Young Caritas program, and 4) helping those affected by natural disasters or war.
Our activities are open to all young volunteers, including those with fewer opportunities, aiming to foster interest in multiculturalism and challenge societal stereotypes.
Accommodation, Food, and Transport Arrangements
Volunteers are guaranteed accommodation, either in dormitories or private apartments. Each volunteer will have a private room with access to shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Volunteers can prepare their own meals, and during the school year, they can opt to eat in the cafeteria. Public transportation is available, and České Budějovice is also ideal for cycling. We can assist with purchasing a bicycle if needed.
Training During the Activity
The training plan includes: 1) an introductory session led by our staff, 2) a Czech language course, 3) the “Setkání s charitou” course (organized several times a year by DCHCB),
4) digital literacy training (daily use of digital tools/methods), 5) training related to the European Solidarity Corps (National Agency)
6) goals from the volunteer’s perspective (linked to key competencies). The core training will involve daily interactions with our target groups, helping volunteers develop communication, manual, language, and other soft skills.
Participant Profile
Looking for individual volunteers from abroad who are interested in engaging in our standard activities.
Looking individuals willing to support elderly people and those with disabilities, work with children, assist homeless individuals, and help those affected by natural disasters or war (currently Ukrainian refugees).
Volunteers should be communicative and have at least a basic knowledge of English. All activities are also suitable for young people with fewer opportunities (not suitable for wheelchair users).
Working with homeless individuals may not be suitable for those whose physical limitations prevent them from performing tasks related to cleaning public spaces.
