Description
The Fedasil reception center for international protection seekers in Sugny welcomes individuals who have applied for asylum in Belgium.
Before they can feel truly settled and build their future in Belgium, their refugee status must be verified and accepted through a lengthy administrative process.
While awaiting the documents that will allow them to legally stay in the country, applicants for international protection are housed in this center.
The residents live in uncertainty, waiting for answers about their administrative status. This project fosters dynamic interaction between volunteers and the center’s residents.
Various activities with children will be organized by and with the volunteers.
Additionally, with the help of a technical coordinator, the volunteers and residents will collaborate to maintain the outdoor areas, perform gardening tasks, and carry out small painting projects.
Accommodation, Food, and Transport Arrangements
You will be accommodated at the center, either in a common room or in rooms for four people, with all necessary amenities (showers, toilets, etc.).
You will share the same basic living conditions as the residents. Volunteers will prepare their own meals at designated times.
Participant Profile
We inform volunteers that alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited within the center.
It is essential to be able to listen to others. This type of workcamp offers a highly enriching personal and human experience, raising awareness of the complexity of social conditions related to significant inequalities in our world.
To illustrate this, we ask potential volunteers to:
Answer our specific questionnaire (if you do not have it yet, please request it from your sending organization)
Provide a criminal record related to working with children
