The Ghent Study Visit is designed to explore a variety of methods, instruments, and systems that encourage young people’s active engagement in local administrative activities.
Throughout the event, attendees will have the chance to delve into the dynamics of youth involvement in Ghent, which is recognized as the European Youth Capital for the year 2024.
The visit also aims to facilitate networking opportunities and acquaint participants with other European entities dedicated to fostering youth involvement in decision-making at the grassroots level.
Additionally, the Study Visit will adopt an informal educational approach, emphasizing the sharing of experiences and proactive participation among attendees.
The visit has set forth specific goals, which include:
Delving into and comprehending the intricacies of youth policies and the assortment of youth participation frameworks at the local tier in Flanders, with a focus on Ghent;
Unearthing and assimilating cutting-edge tactics that can bolster youth facilitators in amplifying youth engagement in their respective localities;
Encouraging the dissemination of exemplary practices in youth involvement within local democracies by engaging in thoughtful discourse and analysis, thereby revealing the efficacy of diverse participatory methods;
Offering insights into the operations of Ghent’s local youth councils and other collaborative frameworks;
Gaining knowledge about the participatory initiatives currently underway in Ghent;
Conducting a comparative scrutiny of the prospects and hurdles encountered by municipalities in Belgium and partnering nations regarding youth participation;
Broadening the network of collaborators and nurturing novel collaborative ventures throughout Europe.
