Volunteering Opportunity: Urban School Gardens and Environmental Actions
This project will bring together ten volunteers to work as a team, maintaining urban school gardens in partner primary schools.
The main goal is to learn and teach about natural gardening and ecology.
Volunteers will also organize Garden festivals and participate in environmental actions, including cleaning local and school areas. Topics such as environmental protection and volunteering promotion will be emphasized.
Accommodation, Food, and Transport Arrangements
Volunteers will stay in a local hostel, sharing rooms with other volunteers.
The accommodation includes shared bathrooms and a kitchen. Vegetarian or vegan food will be provided for lunch to promote vegetarianism (as part of the vegetarian or vegan challenge).
The hosting organization will cover travel costs, accommodation, food, local transportation, and activity expenses. Participants’ travel costs will be reimbursed up to the maximum allowed for their country, following European Solidarity Corps rules.
Training During the Activity
Volunteers will participate in various training activities, including on-arrival training, gardening training, guidance on behavior in schools, personal project preparation, and learning about Youthpass and the 8 Key Competences.
Additionally, there will be an introduction to basic Croatian language expressions and vocabulary, as well as discussions about vegetarianism.
Participant Profile
We are seeking honestly motivated, proactive volunteers aged 18-30 who are interested in natural gardening, organizing Garden festivals, and contributing to a cleaner school environment.
Physical work outdoors, dealing with insects, and getting dirty or wet should not deter you.
No prior experience is required. If you’re passionate about environment, sustainability, vegetarianism, veganism, healthy lifestyles, and volunteering, this project is for you.
Proficiency in communicative English is necessary. We are looking for fully engaged participants!
