Project Overview:
The CIVS Kenya project offers a 21-day volunteering opportunity for individuals passionate about community development and environmental sustainability.
Volunteers engage in diverse tasks, including permaculture activities like tree planting to enhance vegetation cover and mitigate environmental risks such as soil drought and flooding.
Additionally, volunteers support agricultural initiatives to improve farming practices and increase productivity for local farmers.
The project also involves capacity-building activities, such as conducting environmental training sessions in schools and community venues.
Volunteers can expect a dynamic daily routine, hands-on fieldwork, interaction with community members, and personal and professional growth. Working full-time (30-38 hours per week), volunteers have two days off per week.
Accommodation, Food, and Transport:
Volunteers stay at the Kuth Awendo Resource Center, with separate shared rooms for females and males.
Cooks provide three daily meals, including typical Kenyan food like rice, ugali, chapatti, beans, and vegetables/fruits. Meat, sardines, and eggs are also available.
Volunteers receive a daily allowance of €32 to cover flight tickets, visa costs, vaccinations, and personal expenses.
Participant Profile:
Ideal candidates are adaptable, culturally sensitive, and willing to engage in hands-on tasks. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with local communities.
Motivated volunteers who embrace new cultures, foods, and environments are encouraged to apply
