Project Overview:
In late 2020, CBB took over stewardship of approximately 20 acres of land near the heart of Marche-en-Famenne. This initiative is dedicated to fostering ecological awareness and promoting responsible consumption.
It also aims to create a space conducive to small gatherings of youth.
The land has been transformed into a thriving garden where we conduct various workshops (such as permaculture introduction, building birdhouses, crafting insect hotels, and establishing vegetable patches) and grow resources beneficial for the youth engaged in our programs.
Our vision is for this garden to blossom into a hub of interaction and (bio)diversity, continually shaped by the young people’s participation.
Importantly, the garden is a vehicle for nurturing community bonds, championing sustainable and inclusive activities among youth of varying vulnerabilities, including those with disabilities.
Your involvement is crucial to enhancing and refurbishing the rural vista of Marche-en-Famenne.
Living Arrangements:
Lodging is akin to dormitory living (Saint François complex), featuring hallways lined with double rooms and communal bathrooms and showers on the same floor.
Smoking indoors is prohibited. Meals are self-prepared, so we encourage you to bring your favorite recipes to share in the joy of communal cooking!
As for transportation, volunteers will be collected from the nearest train station.
Skill Development:
Under the guidance of a seasoned professional for part of the duration, volunteers will work on enlarging a dry-stone wall previously erected by international volunteers.
This extension serves to demarcate the garden from an adjacent area designated for relaxation, complete with wooden tables and benches.
Ideal Participants: Attention: This workcamp involves physical and outdoor labor that may be demanding at times. We welcome all individuals who are prepared for hands-on work; no previous experience or specialized knowledge is necessary.
Activity dates: 02/07/2024 to 15/07/2024
