Activity Description:
Volunteers will work in a residential facility for children and youths with disabilities, assisting them in everyday life to help them live as normally as possible and participate in society.
Residents live independently, each having their own room.
Volunteers will support the care staff in various activities, including leisure activities, household chores, assistance with eating, shopping, cooking, and help with everyday activities.
Support in personal development and becoming independent is a crucial aspect of the volunteer’s role.
Depending on age and disability, residents may need assistance with light physical activities such as walks and mobilization.
Accommodation, Food, and Transport Arrangements:
Volunteers will live in a shared apartment with private rooms.
They will receive 7 Euro/day as pocket money, a public transport ticket reimbursement of 49€/month, a food fee of 313€/month, and a financial contribution to travel costs.
Training During the Activity:
Volunteers will participate in OnArrival Training and Midterm-Seminar.
An English-speaking mentor will be available for answering questions and supervising the volunteer’s work.
Participation in regular training for staff members is encouraged.
Participant Profile:
- Motivation to work in the project.
- Willingness to work and live with people with mental disabilities.
- Basic knowledge of the German language is an advantage.
- Reliability and punctuality are expected.
- Experience in the field is welcome but not necessary.
Activity Dates:
- The volunteering period is 17 weeks, from 03/10/2024 to 02/02/2025.
